Our Story
We moved from Austin, Texas to the Millville, Delaware area to bring a taste of back home good ole’ Texas Barbecue!
Where our idea sparked of naming our business BackHome BBQ, because “There’s no better feeling than being back home.”
Raised in Connecticut Pit Master Nicholas Rivera enjoyed cooking but fell in love with it after working at well known BBQ Restaurant “Hoodoo Brown.” He traveled and worked along side many talented BBQ pit masters during his tenure, states including Connecticut, North Carolina, Louisiana, & Texas. He has also participated in many barbecue food festivals, working and learning more about his craft in Brisket, Ribs, Pork Belly, & Whole Hog. He enjoys cooking for his family as much as he enjoys cooking for his business, and truly shows his hours of tenacious work in his cooks.
Jocelyn Paniagua was born and raised in Waco Texas, having family in Mexico, she learned many recipes from her youth, and different techniques that influenced their food today! Jocelyn attended Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas where she received her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts. She has worked and studied with many chefs learning a variety of different styles of foods and techniques, and soon took the challenge of adding pastries to her craft.
We are two passionate, ambitious chefs wanting to spread the love of food and Texas BBQ Culture. Wether it be something sweet or savory, our goal is to make everyone feel like they’re enjoying a plate with us
